Hey Chebzee, yes it’s pretty cool they they plan on getting the "is" restriction however I actually think having the restriction there is also quite cool. It’s interesting to see the funny status messages people because of the whole "is" restriction.

Yeah go Jase and make one on behalf of all of us Facebook fiends. Getting rid of the "is" will enable me to make even more random, obscure comments about my status that only I read in general!!

I think when it comes to Microsoft’s targeted ads it is a major concern in principal but I believe if an application is appealing enough too then people will accept them if not too intrusive/experience impacting. Perhaps … or maybe the heat of my laptop right now is melting my brain …

Well, perhaps it’s time for the J-Master to make one on behalf of the Facebook community and the 65k+ people joining the group dedicated to fighting it? Cos it seems like Facebook is now taking its jolly long time to “test”, or should I say, “phase out” the whole “Is” process.

WoW! That – I didn’t know Jason. Thank you for sharing..
In that case, I don’t see what the big deal is. However, as you no doubt know, the percentage of regular ‘Facebooker’s’ as opposed to developers would be pretty high – so having said that, if the guys at the ‘Book make it easier for everyone to edit their own statii? it would be cool.

Also, coming of your point again about applications – I believe there are apps out there already that change your status messages in a way that the “is” doesn’t show up?

Also Cheb, Facebook applications are able to set the status of users without prepending "is" to the status, resulting in possible statuses such as "Cheb owns Facebook" etc.

Since this is available to developers through the API, it should be publically available soonish.

Interesting article Cheb. I’m more worried about the recent Microsoft buyout of all the ad space on Facebook. Now you will start seeing “targeted” ads everywhere based on your interests. Facebook had better manage this carefully otherwise people are going to stop using their application.
