Interested - it's a mix of my own design, and Wordpress as a backend for blogging and page content.

Have you ever tried using Wordpress before?

[...] Project management is really a science. There are hundreds of things to learn and techniques to pick up. Having done Prince 2, (Projects in controlled environments), a project management methodology and accreditation started by the UK government to aid in the successful running of projects; I picked up little bits and peaces which definitely helped me in my time as project manager.
Hey Cheb,

Yeah...you're right. Planning is the first step to make before you start building a website.
This steps are also very useful.
Keep up the great work!

My top-rated, most creative designes were built in my mind, before I slept (but its the first time I notice that I do plan.. I thought it came naturally lol)..

Melz, thank you for your comment. Obviously the steps above are what you'd hope to accomplish as a minimum.
If you recall the GASP method (steps) detailed above, you would have seen Functional specifications are proceeded by Requirements gathering and analysis; both which are evidently very much required to engineer a website.

The scoping/analysis phase of a project (in particular requirements gathering), includes those tasks that go into determining the needs (the WHY?, as you rightly state) or whatever is needed to be met in order for the project to be successful.
Obviously it is very important to get as many answers to your questions as possible as part of the planning/scoping phase; and in that, you're certainly correct - but those questions should be answered as part of that phase as apposed to taking place afterwards.

On another note, I stick by my notion of 'Interface Hacker'. I think it's a cool title, and certainly not meant to be derogatory or anything of that nature!

Thanks for your views Melz!

Chebzee,

You have left out one of the most important aspect's in developing a successful website.

Step one talks about "What are are we building" but before you can get into that you need to have a clear understanding of "WHY" you are building anything - what's the purpose of the site, what do you hope to achieve etc. Without a clear understanding of the goals it would be very difficult to make a success of a web project.

A side note: I resent the term "Interface Hackers" :p makes front end developers seem like a bunch of school kid wannabes :p and it defiantly should not be called slicing there is a lot more invloved in frontend development than purely cutting a PSD, the term slicing to me sounds like ur just using the slice tool in photoshop :-S who would touch that thing.
