Hello 2.0′ers.

I was recently tagged by good mate Vicky Lalwani to write 8 little things about myself.

The meme is basically defined as follows:

Each player starts with eight random facts/habits about themselves.

People who are tagged need to write a post on their own blog (about their eight things) and post these rules.

At the end of your blog, you need to choose people to get tagged and list their names.

Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’re tagged, and to read your blog.

So here goes…

Eight little things you probably didn’t know about Cheb 2.0

1. I built my first homepage back in the summer of 1997 and hosted it on what was then the ‘most popular personal hosting site ever’ – Expage! Boy how the years have changed… Apparently these days if you mention to someone you have or had an ‘Expage’ you hear words back you never, ever wanted to hear!

2. I am an avid songwriter/poet! [listens for gasps]. I have been writing songs/poems for as long as I remember – going as far as winning the ‘Archbishop of Sydney Excellent Award’ during ‘The year of the family’ back in year six for a poem, ahh – about the family! If my memory serves me correctly, some of the ‘amazing’ lines included:

“Some families are big / Some families are small / No matter how much you love them / They’ll always love you more”

3. I did debating and public speaking throughout my school life. I went as far as the finals in many years and was part of a three-man outfit which was crowned CBSA champions in year nine!

4. I am Mac crazy! I have owned at least 5 generations of iPod’s, a ‘Bondi Blue’ iMac G3, a Macbook Pro, a latest-edition iMac, iPod Hi-Fi, and more! I don’t discriminate however, and run a PC for my first person shooters and other things!

5. I originally wanted to be a lawyer – and then a journalist… I ended up doing B.IT/Analysis and Design & E-Business. I might get back to journalism… One day!

6. I recently bought myself a Lexus IS250 and what a joy that is to drive.. Truly spirited driving! The hi-fi/sound system is absolutely the best sound system I have ever heard in a car; including Bimmer and Mercs. Those 14 premium Mark Levinson’s easily trump Sony, Bose, Logic or anything else. Great car!

7. For a little while I was known as the ‘Wisdom boy’ back in early high school. Being the lead in the choir [Gosh, that does pain me to say now] didn’t come easy. During a school assembly with over 200 guests and students, my voice decided to give way whilst doing the backup vocals on ‘Hail Mary, Gentle Woman’… It sort of went like this: [Italics = my vocals]

‘Gentle Mother / “Gentle Mother” / Peaceful dove “Peaceful dove” / Teach us wisdom… / “Wiisss *shriek* dddoooommmmm” / Teach us love…’ – definitely not my crowning achievement!

8. And finally, I’ve always wanted to do stand-up comedy – and not the type where ‘you stand up, and we’ll laugh’ either! I have written numerous pages of material, but never had the time to get up there and perform on open mic nights, or anything else! Keep a look out though in the next few years for Cheb 2.0 on the comedy scene!

So there you have it people, eight simple things you probably did not know about Cheb 2.0.

I hope I have offered you guys some insight into the Cheb 2.0 lifestyle – and hopefully got a laugh or two along the way.

So to now do what I was told and tag others to do this:

Robert Beerworth

Luke Manion

Gregory Brine

Nathan McKean

Well, well, well… Has it really been that long already? Welcome to Cheb 2.0.1 – Where it’ll always be Cheb 2.0 – just a little bit older!

It’s been a fun six months! What started as a small side project to share some of me knowledge and findings with the web world has become a forerunner in terms of an online web resource; for Australia and the world alike!

With 400-500 unique visitors daily, (granted, most like to lurk rather than contribute!), Cheb 2.0 has become an online pit stop for crucial web and Web 2 information, reviews, tutorials and more.

As promised, I have been working hard on a complete re-design of the blog which will eventually address a few usability changes as well as an overhaul of the commenting/contributing system.

click to maximise

As you can see; especially if you have bigger monitors!, the design flows a lot more, and is heavily focused on above the fold – making it easier to find more information as it comes to hand.

Please keep in mind that although we have moved 25 or so posts across – it is going to be a little while longer before everything is 100% perfect and the dust has settled. We will be adding continues functionality in the next week or two including: user-voting system, galleries, voting, competitions, and a lot more!

We simply ask that you be patient whilst everything is going and we will get to where we need to be!

I will update this post with any new information as it comes to hand – but feel free to take a look around and familiarize yourself with the new interface!

PS: We realize there are still a few CSS/style nags on some older browsers and we are working on making sure your viewing experience is by no means comprimsed! However, I hope that the great content Cheb 2.0 has become known for in the web design industry is what keeps you coming back in the first place – above all!

Finally, I would love to thank Mel Forrest, front-end coder/slicer extraordinaire whom I could not have sliced this redesign of the blog without. You rock Melz!! You guys have to keep an eye out for Slicetastic – coming soon! : )

Peace out,

Cheb.

When I launched Cheb 2.0 Web design blog back in October 2007, I had no idea it would become this popular this quick!

I was happy with the design outcome – I think it met what I was trying to achieve and made connecting with the audience so much easier. You guys let me know you were digging it – so apart from the recent mishap with our old web host (which out of good character, I shall not name) we were going very strong and everything was on track with Australia’s biggest design blog.

I never told anyone, but I was always going to play with a much cleaner, leaner, more article-focused design which was going to be released around Cheb 2.0′s six month anniversary

So, without further ado – as much as I’d like to keep it under wraps, here are some teaser screen shots from the latest design (which at the moment is still boiling away in the over). Stay with us – we will be adding a heck of a lot more content, more Photoshop tutorials, and a lot more ways for you to interact with the Cheb 2.0 community.
